THIS YEAR...I HAVE BEEN WORKING OFTEN WITH SYMBOLS AND CODES....EXPLORING GRAPHICALLY THEIR CULTURAL MEANINGS AND IMPLICATIONS. MY FASCINATION WITH THE YIN and YANG SYMBOL, AND THE BALANCE IT SYMBOLIZES, IS NEVER-ENDING...THESE IMAGES BEGAN WITH SCANS OF THE YIN and YANG SYMBOL.... VARIOUS FILTERS WERE USED TO CREATE THE FINISHED IMAGES.

OBVIOUSLY, THE BALANCE IMPLIED BY THE SYMBOL HAS BEEN SHATTERED...REFLECTING MY VARIOUS MOODS IN THESE UNBALANCED TIMES.

I HAVE BEEN USING THE COMPUTER PROGRAM KNOWN AS PHOTOSHOP.... AS A VIRTUAL PAINTBRUSH..... EXPLORING FILTERS AND EFFECTS TO CREATE MY ARTWORK.

EACH OF THESE IMAGES ARE ORIGINAL DIGITAL CREATIONS

THE FINAL IMAGE WHICH I CREATE MIGHT BE MOST CLOSELY DEFINED AS A VEXEL

"Vexel is a neologism for an entirely pixel-based form of raster art that imitates the visual appearance of vector graphics technique (i.e. sharp-edged lines and areas of flat colour or smooth gradient fills). The word itself is a portmanteau derived from a combination of "vector" and "pixel."
